Who's Guarding Your Gate?
By The Numbers: Week One
It was suggested to me that I that I should write a little every week about the attendance numbers from the weekend and maybe compare them to the previous year as well as provide a little information about weather conditions or other factors that affect attendance. OK, challenge accepted!
In this post I’ll discuss the first weekend and I’ll post about second weekend later this week.
First weekend for us is often about getting back into the routine of things, but this year was an additional challenge as we were learning a new ticket scanning system. Luckily, that went pretty smoothly since we had a really good attendance, as in record-breaking:
While Saturday was a little slower than opening day last year, Sunday’s attendance was a record for opening weekend and that pushed the total over last year’s opening weekend record.
|2016||Clear, High 85°, Low 63°, 53% Humidity||Clear, High 81°, Low 57 °, 30% Humidity|
|2015||Clear, High 89°, Low 64 °, 84% Humidity||Clear, High 90°, Low 59 °, 89% Humidity|
As you can see, this year was not as warm, and MUCH less humid that last year’s opening weekend, which made for a good time all around. I doubt the difference was enough to account for the slight increase in attendance.
Next time: Second Weekend: 1001 Dreams (a.k.a. Fairy Infestation).
See you at the gates… Until then, ‘Fare thee well!’
