Where were you on Tuesday?
Keys to the Tower of London drawbridges were stolen last week but nothing else was stolen, officials reported on Monday.
LONDON — A rare security breach has been reported at the Tower of London, one of the British capital’s most famous landmarks.
Authorities say the Crown Jewels and other unique artifacts are safe but that locks had to be changed after an intruder broke in and stole some keys. Officials said Monday the keys were stolen from a sentry box at the site. They would have provided access to the Tower’s drawbridges and some other areas.
Authorities say the keys were stolen last Tuesday and a police investigation into the theft is under way. A Historic Royal Palaces statement said security procedures had not been properly followed.
The Tower is guarded by Yeoman Warders, commonly known as Beefeaters.

The TRF Really Want You to Go to the Festival This Year… on Sunday
Did you know that starting this year that the price for a ticket to the TRF is different depending on which day of the weekend you go to the festival? That’s right; going on a Sunday will save you $3 per adult and $2 per child when you purchase your ticket online or at one of at one of the ticket outlet locations*.
Savings could add up pretty quickly. I figure with a little planning the average family could save the cost of one or two beer easily. Continue reading

Meet the New Tickets. (Not the) Same as the Old Tickets
Most guests probably don’t really care as long as they get in the festival, but there is a new ticket system at the TRF this year. Other than drinking beer, tickets are pretty much our reason for being, so we care at any rate.
Almost all of the tickets now print-on-demand and will have a barcode and will have to be scanned at the gate. Hopefully that part will work well and most guests will not even notice, but the nice thing about tickets, even scannable ones, is that they are decidedly analogue, and we can just take them if we have to.
This interesting thing behind the scenes with the new system is that it will allow the TRF much more flexibility in their tickets, so expect to see many different kinds of tickets and packages on offer. In the past tickets had to be ordered from the printer months in advance, now if the marketing department comes up with a new promotion, they can just print the tickets.
From our point of view it will be nice that all these… Continue reading
